On 1 June, 2016 Brent left Coolangatta, Queensland and cycled across Australia to Perth, WA. The trip covered 4564kms and saw him ride through 24 towns before arriving at in Perth at Cottesloe Beach on 15 July, 2016. With an aim to becoming the first person in the world to achieve this feat, Brent had to cycle roughly 150 kms plus per day to achieve his goal.
Throughout the ride, Brent engaged the local councils and communities of the towns he was riding through to allow him the opportunity to speak with them about The HeavyHiterz Foundation.
Unfortunately, Brent sustained an injury in the early part of his ride, breaking his elbow. He continued with the ride, making it to Ceduna in SA before being flown to Royal Adelaide hospital for treatment. Once the treatment was finished, Brent flew back to Ceduna and then continued his ride. With the loss of approx. 10 days due to hospitalisation, Brent finally finished his journey, taking 45 days to cycle 4564kms across some of Australia’s most remote areas and along the way collecting a community of supporters and volunteers to The HeavyHIterz Foundation and getting the word out there to all Australians that YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
In order, the towns Brent travelled through are:
Casino NSW, Tenterfield NSW, Texas NSW, Boggabilla NSW, Moree NSW, Gilgandra NSW, Dubbo NSW, Narromine NSW, Nyngan NSW, Cobar NSW, Wilcannia NSW, Broken Hill NSW, Peterborough SA, Wilmington SA, Port Augusta SA, Kimba SA, Ceduna SA, Nundroo SA, Madura WA, Balladonia WA, Norseman WA, Coolgardie WA, Merredine WA, Northam WA and Perth WA.
